Unlike many who cower under the covers at the thought of turning thirty, I decided to embrace the ‘dirty thirties’ and have some fun. My dear mate, Kim Tickner, was kind enough to host my party at her gorgeous house in Bryanston! And what a party it was. Bubbly, red one, the Black Eyed Peas (‘Tonight’s gonna a be a good night’) and one monster hangover the next morning.. Fun times and what a way to welcome my thirties!!
After completing the Otter trail in 2008, a group of intrepid adventurers thought it was time to tackle another wilderness trail. This time we opted for a slightly more relaxed, 'slack-packing' trail, called the Whale trail. It's a 5 day trail, covering 55 km in the De Hoop nature reserve and the beauty is that one does not need to carry heavy packs of tuna sachets.. rather leave that for the porters and just take a day pack. So we took OBS, red wine... you name it! I could get used to a bit of this luxury!!
